Amit Shah To Chair 10th NCORD Meeting; Unveil India’s Anti-Drug Vision 2026-29

Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will chair the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on June 26.

The meeting will take place at Vigyan Bhawan and will be organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau.

The gathering aims to reinforce the Centre’s anti-drug campaign in line with the vision of Narendra Modi for a drug-free India.

The event will bring together representatives from 44 Union Ministries and departments. It will also include 108 participants from state governments and drug law enforcement agencies in a hybrid format.

During the meeting, Amit Shah will release the Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029).

Authorities prepared the framework after extensive consultations with government departments, enforcement agencies and key stakeholders.

The document presents a detailed roadmap covering demand reduction, supply control and harm reduction. It proposes a network-based enforcement model and outlines measures to combat synthetic drugs, darknet-enabled trafficking and substance abuse among young people.

The strategy also focuses on expanding treatment and rehabilitation facilities. It assigns responsibilities, sets timelines and establishes measurable targets for stakeholders.

The framework integrates enforcement, public awareness, rehabilitation, capacity building and inter-agency cooperation.

Shah will also release the NCB Annual Report 2025 and inaugurate newly constructed NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati.

Additionally, authorities will launch the Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign.

Under the initiative, agencies expect to destroy nearly 2,09,500 kilograms of narcotics valued at approximately ₹6,000 crore in accordance with legal procedures.

The meeting will review ongoing anti-narcotics efforts, assess emerging challenges and formulate strategies for the next three years.

The deliberations are expected to strengthen the government’s zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and substance abuse.
