Amit Shah Slams Congress In Assam, Showcases BJP’s Development And Peace Efforts

HM Amit Shah strongly criticised the Indian National Congress during an election rally in Dhekiajuli, Assam. He stated that the BJP governments at both the Centre and the state have driven notable progress in investment, governance, and stability.

Highlighting funding differences, the Home Minister said Assam received nearly Rs 1.28 lakh crore during the Congress-led regime at the Centre. He contrasted this with the approximately Rs 9 lakh crore allocated under Narendra Modi between 2014 and 2024, describing it as evidence of stronger developmental intent.

Discussing economic initiatives, HM Amit Shah pointed to the establishment of a semiconductor plant in the state. He also credited Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for efforts to expand higher education by planning medical and engineering colleges in every district.

The Home Minister asserted that the BJP government has significantly improved peace in Assam.

He claimed, “Through multiple peace accords, nearly 10,000 youths have laid down arms, paving the way for stability and growth.”

Criticism of Opposition Leaders

Targeting opposition figures, HM Amit Shah alleged that leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi have opposed actions to remove illegal infiltrators from voter lists. He urged them to clarify their position on the issue.

HM Shah noted that renowned singer Bhupen Hazarika received the Bharat Ratna during the current government’s tenure. He also stated that former Assam Chief Minister Gopinath Bordoloi had not been honoured earlier due to political considerations.

Reiterating a strong national stance, HM Amit Shah referred, “Jawaharlal Nehru had said ‘Tata bye-bye’ to Assam during the time of the China war. This is the Modi government today; no one can snatch even an inch of India’s land.”

The address reflected the BJP’s focus on development, peace, and security in Assam. As elections approach, the party is highlighting its governance record while drawing comparisons with the previous Congress administration.
