Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his greetings to the National Security Guard (NSG) on Thursday, commemorating the elite force’s Raising Day.
In a post on X, he praised the commandos for setting a ‘gold standard in combat excellence’ and paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.
The post was accompanied by a photo gallery showcasing the NSG ‘Black Cats’ commandos engaged in various operations on land and at sea, underlining their skill, dedication, and readiness.
At the 41st Raising Day ceremony in Manesar on Tuesday, Shah described the NSG as the nation’s ‘strongest shield against terrorism and organised crime’.
He paid homage to those personnel who laid down their lives to protect the country, stating, “We all remember those who made the supreme sacrifice; I salute them on behalf of the entire nation.”
Shah acknowledged the NSG’s critical role since its establishment in 1984, highlighting its decisive actions during major operations such as the Akshardham temple attack, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and several hostage rescue missions. He reaffirmed the force’s status as India’s foremost counter-terror unit.
The Home Minister announced that the NSG will expand significantly with a new hub established in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
This will increase the force’s presence to seven key hubs across the country, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Jammu, ensuring faster and more effective responses to threats.
Shah emphasised that NSG commandos would continue to remain deployed round the clock to counter any potential terror threats.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister asserted that India has adopted a ‘zero terrorism policy’, reinforcing the government’s commitment to national security and the protection of its citizens.
