India’s Bid To Host 2030 Commonwealth Games Marks Historic Milestone, Says Nita Ambani

Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita M Ambani has described India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games as a historic and pride-filled moment for the nation.

In a statement, she said, “India’s bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games represents a landmark achievement. It reflects our sporting spirit, talent, and an important step towards becoming a global sports powerhouse.”

Ambani highlighted that hosting the Games would not only showcase India’s organisational capabilities but also inspire athletes across the country, encouraging a new generation to pursue excellence in sports.

Expressing her gratitude, Ambani thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership and unwavering support.

She noted that the move brings India closer to realising its shared dream of hosting the Olympic Games in the future.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to PM Modi for his guidance in this historic endeavour. This moment is a milestone in India’s sporting history. Jai Hind!” she stated.

Her remarks emphasised that the 2030 bid is a testament to India’s growing stature on the global sports stage. She highlighted the country’s potential to host world-class international events.

Ahmedabad Recommended as Host City

The Commonwealth Games Executive Board on Wednesday recommended Ahmedabad as the host city for the 2030 Games.

The Commonwealth Games General Assembly will give final approval at its meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 26, 2025.

The recommendation followed a rigorous evaluation process, including technical planning, athlete experience, infrastructure, governance, and alignment with Commonwealth values.

This selection adhered to the organisation’s ‘Games Reset’ principles, which prioritise innovation, collaboration, and transparency.

The 2030 edition will mark the centenary of the Commonwealth Games, first held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930. Ambani described the bid as a milestone for the Commonwealth sporting movement, offering renewed direction and long-term sustainability.

With Ahmedabad recommended as the host, India will showcase its organisational prowess, world-class infrastructure, and sporting talent to a global audience, reinforcing its position as a rising sports nation.
