The bonus acknowledges the efforts of the workforce in maintaining train operations and supporting the extensive railway network.
The approved payment will benefit approximately 11.40 lakh railway employees, with the bonus calculated at the equivalent of 78 days’ salary, subject to applicable eligibility and calculation rules.
The announcement comes ahead of Diwali, when households typically face additional expenses related to celebrations, travel and other festive needs.
The payment is expected to provide additional financial support to eligible employees and their families.

By approving the festive-season bonus, the government aims to recognise employees’ efforts while extending financial assistance to railway households ahead of Diwali.
