Amit Shah Announces Major Crackdown As Salim Dola Deported To India

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday declared that authorities have left no refuge for drug traffickers after deporting Salim Dola. He described the move as a decisive success in the government’s drive to dismantle narcotics syndicates.

Officials arrested Dola in Turkey and transferred him to New Delhi aboard a special aircraft. They handed him over to the central intelligence agencies upon arrival.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “Zero tolerance against Narco syndicate. The @narcoticsbureau today made a major breakthrough in securing the return of notorious drug trafficker Mohammad Salim Dola from Turkiye. Under Modi govt’s mission to ruthlessly smash drug cartels, our anti-narcotics agencies have extended their claws across borders through a robust network of global agencies. Now no matter where they hide, no place is safe for drug kingpins.”

Authorities moved Dola to the Narcotics Control Bureau headquarters in RK Puram, Delhi. They tightened security and began interrogation.

Officials credited swift coordination between Indian and international intelligence networks for the operation. They said Dola managed a Rs 5,000 crore narcotics enterprise, dealing a severe blow to underworld and ISI-backed networks.

Investigators will question him on domestic operations and global connections.

Intelligence officials will examine his ties to the Dawood syndicate. Agencies earlier extradited his son, Taher Dola, and deported associate Salim Mohamed Sheikh. Enforcement Directorate officers will also interrogate him.

Officials linked drug proceeds to insurgency in the northeast and terror groups. They noted connections with Pakistan-based outfits, including Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Agencies will probe Dola’s links to Mexican and Myanmar cartels.
