Akhilesh Yadav Calls For DNA Test In Rape Case; Mayawati Questions SP

On Saturday, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav called for a DNA test of Moin Khan, an SP leader implicated in the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya.

This demand comes as Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati questions the Samajwadi Party’s stance on the matter.

Moin Khan, a close associate of Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad from Faizabad, faces accusations of committing the crime at his bakery in Ayodhya.

The district administration took swift action earlier in the day by demolishing Khan’s bakery, located in the Purakalandar police station area, where the incident allegedly occurred.

Akhilesh Yadav expressed his stance on the case via social media platform X, stating, “Justice demands a DNA test of the accused rather than just political rhetoric. If the DNA test confirms guilt, the perpetrators should face full legal consequences. Conversely, if the accusations prove unfounded, authorities should hold those who made false accusations accountable.”

In response, Mayawati criticized the Samajwadi Party’s call for a DNA test, questioning the party’s track record on similar issues. “While the UP government’s actions in the Ayodhya case are commendable, the SP’s call for a DNA test raises questions. How many DNA tests were conducted during the SP’s tenure in government?” Mayawati queried.

She further addressed the broader issue of crime and safety, stating, “With increasing concerns about crime control and women’s safety in UP, incidents in Ayodhya and Lucknow are deeply troubling. The government must take decisive steps to address these issues beyond mere caste, community, and political considerations.”

The controversy comes in the wake of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks in the Assembly on Friday, where he criticized the Samajwadi Party for inaction regarding the alleged rape case.
