Ajit Doval Meets Chinese Counterpart Wang Yi In Russia On Sidelines Of BRICS NSA Meeting

National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission and a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Political Bureau. The meeting took place in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on the sidelines of the BRICS High-Ranking Officials Meeting on security matters.

Focus on LAC Disengagement

The discussions focused on resolving the remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. Both sides reviewed recent efforts and emphasized the need for urgency in achieving complete disengagement in the unresolved areas. NSA Doval stressed that peace and stability along the border are crucial for normalizing bilateral relations. He reiterated the importance of respecting the LAC and abiding by past agreements and protocols.

Importance of Bilateral Relations

Both India and China agreed that their bilateral relationship holds significance not only for the two nations but also for the region and the world. The meeting also included discussions on the global and regional situation. Both sides committed to strengthening their efforts to stabilize and rebuild relations, emphasizing that respect for the LAC remains central to future cooperation.
