AIIA Marks International Yoga Day With ‘Yoga For Healthy Ageing’ Programme

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Ayush, celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 with a grand Yoga programme themed ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ at its main campus in Sarita Vihar.

The event commenced with a mass practice session based on the Common Yoga Protocol, drawing participation from Ayurveda practitioners, doctors, students, staff members and other attendees.

Participants performed various Yoga postures, pranayama and meditation exercises, highlighting the role of Yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle.

A Yoga Fusion cultural programme was also organised, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage and longstanding Yoga tradition.

Participants enthusiastically took part in the event and pledged to make Yoga a regular part of their daily lives.

Addressing the gathering, AIIA Director Prof (Vaidya) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati said Yoga is not merely a one-day observance but a way of achieving a healthy and balanced life. He encouraged citizens to practise Yoga regularly, stating that consistent practice can support physical, mental and emotional well-being while helping prevent several lifestyle-related diseases.

Prof Prajapati noted that Yoga contributes to both physical and mental health and plays an important role in addressing stress, anxiety and other mental health concerns. He urged people to practice Yoga year-round and integrate it into their everyday routines.

Later, Prof Prajapati also participated in a special International Yoga Day programme organised at the Supreme Court of India, where the Chief Justice of India attended as the chief guest.
