PIB Warns Against Fake Mudra Loan Approval Letter Promising Rs 10 Lakh

The Press Information Bureau has issued a warning to citizens. It concerns a counterfeit loan approval letter being circulated online and through other communication channels.

The fraudulent document falsely claims that recipients have been approved for a ₹10 lakh loan. It states that the loan is being provided under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.

To make the scheme appear authentic, the letter asks applicants to pay a processing fee of ₹6,550. It claims that the loan amount will be released only after this payment is made.

Following an examination of the circulating document, PIB Fact Check confirmed that the loan approval letter is fabricated.

Officials clarified that the communication has no association with any legitimate government programme or financial assistance initiative.

The agency urged members of the public to ignore such claims and avoid engaging with individuals or organisations promoting the fake offer.

Authorities also highlighted that MUDRA does not directly distribute loans to entrepreneurs, small business owners, or individuals. Its primary function is to provide refinancing support to banks and other eligible lending institutions that extend loans under the scheme.

As a result, any message claiming direct loan approval from MUDRA should be viewed with suspicion and independently verified.

The government has advised people to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes that misuse the names of official programmes.

Individuals should refrain from making payments, sharing personal information, or responding to unsolicited loan offers without proper verification.

Officials have also recommended checking government websites and verified platforms for accurate details about the Mudra scheme and other public welfare initiatives.

Citizens are also encouraged to report misleading content promptly to help curb the spread of misinformation and protect others from falling victim to scams.
