Adani Foundation Marks Children’s Day With Citywide Celebrations For Over One Lakh Mumbai Students

More than one lakh students from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools celebrated Children’s Day through a vibrant, citywide programme organised by the Adani Foundation in collaboration with Adani Electricity.

The large-scale event, held on November 14 under Project Utthan, embraced the theme ‘Bachpan Ka Utsav’, transforming classrooms across Mumbai into hubs of creativity and joyful learning.

The celebrations spanned 25 wards and more than 900 BMC schools, according to an official statement.

Teachers and students filled the schools with lively activities, organising fun games and talent showcases featuring singing, dancing, and mimicry. They also held a special ‘teachers as students’ session where educators stepped into the shoes of pupils for the day.

Children also participated in drawing, painting, brain teasers, thumb painting, and relay games, creating an environment of excitement and togetherness.

Organisers designed the programme to boost confidence, promote teamwork, and strengthen emotional connections among students.

Organisers said the event echoed the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which highlights play-based and activity-oriented learning during the foundational years.

Project Utthan: Strengthening Foundational Learning in Mumbai

Project Utthan is the Adani Foundation’s flagship education initiative in partnership with Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML).

The project aims to improve the quality of education in BMC schools by enhancing foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills and introducing engaging, activity-based learning methods.

Launched with the vision of helping every child learn with confidence and joy, the initiative offers experiential learning opportunities, teacher capacity-building programmes, and modern pedagogical tools. It also focuses on creating inclusive and positive school environments aligned with NEP 2020 goals.

Operating across 25 wards and reaching over one lakh students annually, Project Utthan blends structured academic support with creative learning interventions. The initiative seeks to empower students and teachers alike, while addressing learning gaps and supporting holistic development at the primary level.

This year’s Children’s Day activities demonstrated Project Utthan’s commitment to child-centric education. By combining celebration with meaningful learning, the programme reinforced the importance of nurturing curiosity, creativity, and confidence in Mumbai’s young learners.
