7 Year Old Girl Allegedly Raped In Delhi; Accused Detained

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the Deshbandhu Gupta Road police station area of central Delhi, prompting police to detain the accused and launch an investigation.

Police took the accused into custody after receiving information about the alleged sexual assault.

Investigators are questioning him and have sent him for a medical examination as part of the probe.

The incident triggered anger among local residents. A large number of people gathered near the police outpost and surrounded it while demanding strict action against the accused.

The protest briefly created a tense situation in the area.

Senior police officers from the Central district reached the spot along with additional personnel. They spoke with residents and assured them that police would take action according to law.

Police are also arranging a medical examination of the child and recording statements from her family members.

Investigators are expected to register or proceed with charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other applicable provisions after completing the necessary formalities.

The investigation will focus on establishing the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and determining whether anyone else played a role.

Police have maintained security in the area as a precaution following the protest. Officials said the situation remains under control and further legal action will follow as investigators gather evidence.

The identity of the child has not been disclosed in accordance with legal protections for minors involved in sexual-offence cases.
