PRAYAGRAJ. The much awaited 38th All India Indira Marathon will be organized on 19th November in Prayagraj . More than 500 runners from across the country will be participating in the 42.195 kilometer Indira Marathon, which will be flagged off from Anand Bhawan at 6:30 am.
The chief guest on the occasion will be Girish Chandra Yadav, Minister Independent Charge, Sports and Youth Welfare Department. On the occasion many international level athletes will also be present on the occasion.
Giving detailed information DM Prayagraj Navneet Chahal, said that this time the theme of Indira Marathon will be ‘Cleanliness on Run, No Plastic Run’. All preparations for Indira Marathon have been completed. Whatever the marathon route is, it will be kept vacant on 19th November. The Marathon will began at 6:30 am and will conclude at 2 pm.
The first prize money in men’s and women’s category has been kept at Rs 2 lakh. The second winner will be awarded a prize money of Rs 1 lakh while the third winner will be awarded Rs 75 thousand.
Eleven athletes will be given a consolation prize of Rs 10 thousand each. Overall, the participants will be awarded a prize money of Rs 9 lakh 70 thousand. All the winners will also be provided a certificate for participating in the marathon. More that one thousand officers and employees have been forced inn for making this event a grand success
The District Magistrate further said that the marathon will start from Anand Bhawan and after passing through various localities of the city and trans- Yamuna area will end at Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium.It may be recalled that the Indira Marathon is organized in the memory of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and it started in year 1985.
