16 IPS Officers In Andhra Pradesh Ordered to Mark Daily Attendance at DGP Office

Sixteen senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Andhra Pradesh must now mark their daily attendance at the Director General of Police (DGP) office.

The DGP, Dwarka Tirumala Rao, issued a memorandum on August 12, instructing the officers to report to the DGP office at 10 a.m. every day. They must sign the attendance register in the waiting room upon arrival and again before leaving after office hours. This directive became known on Wednesday.

Additionally, the officers are expected to be available for any urgent tasks assigned to them. Among those affected are DGP-rank officials P. S. R. Anjanyeulu and P. V. Sunil Kumar, Additional DGP N. Sanjay, and IGPs Kanthi Rana Tata, G. Pala Raju, and K. Raghuram Reddy. The list also includes DIG-rank officials R. N. Ammi Reddy, Ch. Vijaya Rao, and Vishal Gunni, along with several Superintendents of Police.

These officers were transferred after the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led NDA government took office in June. They have not yet been assigned new postings and have been directed to report to the DGP office. Notably, some of these officers were involved in controversies related to the previous TDP leadership.

For instance, Kasi Reddy V. R. N. Reddy, formerly the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), was moved to a less prominent position as Commissioner of Printing, Stationery, and Stores Purchase. Similarly, the Election Commission had previously transferred P. S. R. Anjaneyulu and Kanthi Rana Tata before the May 13 elections.

In summary, the directive aims to ensure that these senior officers remain accountable and available amid ongoing administrative changes.
