The acclaimed feature Pyre, directed by Vinod Kapri, has added to its impressive awards tally at the 2025 Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival (MISAFF), securing prizes for Best Feature Film and Best Music, the latter awarded to Academy Award–winning composer Mychael Danna.
The latest honours mark another milestone in the film’s exceptional international journey.
With these wins, Pyre now boasts 16 major global accolades, including multiple Best Director titles, reinforcing its standing as one of the year’s most distinguished independent productions.
A memorable moment of the ceremony came when celebrated filmmaker Deepa Mehta presented the awards, lending an emotional resonance to the evening.
Kapri expressed deep appreciation, saying, “Receiving these awards from Deepa Mehta ji is a blessing I will cherish forever. Her contribution to world cinema is unparalleled, and her presence made the recognition even more meaningful.”
Critics and audiences alike have praised Pyre for its compelling narrative, standout performances, and evocative musical composition.
Kapri also offered sincere thanks to the MISAFF jury, festival organisers, and Canadian viewers for their enthusiastic support.
Composer Mychael Danna was honoured for crafting a score that has been widely noted as integral to the film’s emotional power.
MISAFF remains a significant international platform for innovative South Asian storytelling, and Pyre’s double victory further solidifies its reputation as one of the defining films of the year.
