PIB Fact Check Flags Deepfake Video Misusing President Murmu’s Speech To Promote Scam

The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has exposed a fake video that falsely shows President Droupadi Murmu endorsing a fraudulent investment platform.

The manipulated clip claims the platform guarantees ₹70,000 in daily earnings and ₹21 lakh in monthly returns on an initial investment of ₹23,000.

PIB verified that artificial intelligence tools created the deepfake video.

The fabricated content misuses footage from President Murmu’s authentic speech delivered on December 10, 2025.

She addressed the National Human Rights Commission event on that day.

In her original address, the President spoke about constitutional values, social justice, and inclusive development.

She did not refer to financial products, investment schemes, or money-making platforms.

The creators of the deepfake altered visual and audio elements to falsely associate her with the scam.

PIB stated that such tactics deliberately exploit public trust in constitutional authorities.

Officials warned that scammers increasingly use deepfake technology to run phishing operations.

They aim to lure unsuspecting citizens into fraudulent schemes by misusing respected public figures.

PIB clarified that no government authority or constitutional office has endorsed the claimed investment platform.

The fact-check unit urged citizens to remain vigilant while consuming online content.

It advised users to avoid clicking suspicious links shared on social media and messaging platforms.

Officials asked the public to report misleading videos and scam-related content to the appropriate cybercrime channels.

PIB stressed that citizens should rely only on verified government platforms for authentic information.

“The ministry reiterated that only authorised government sources issue official investment-related advisories.

The ministry also highlighted the growing threat posed by AI-generated misinformation in the digital space.

It called for stronger public awareness to counter fake content and prevent financial exploitation.

With the spread of deepfakes accelerating, authorities have reinforced the need for digital literacy and cautious online behaviour.
