The PIB Fact Check has debunked a misleading video circulating on YouTube that falsely claims the Central government will distribute free washing machines to all women.
The video, posted by a channel named ‘techayasfacts’, has been labelled as fabricated and deceptive.
Authorities clarified that no such welfare scheme exists.
The fact-check unit warned citizens against falling prey to such misinformation, which often exploits public interest in social welfare initiatives.
The video included fabricated application links and claims designed to mislead viewers into believing in a nonexistent government benefit.
To counter the false narrative, PIB Fact Check released a visual response. It overlaid ‘FAKE’ stamps on screenshots of the video and highlighted inconsistencies in the claims.
This approach aimed to clearly demonstrate the fraudulent nature of the content and reinforce the importance of verification through official sources.
Officials noted that such scams have surfaced repeatedly between 2024 and 2025.
Fraudsters frequently misuse themes related to women’s welfare schemes to attract attention and generate engagement.
These tactics often lead to financial fraud or misuse of personal information.
The agency urged users to rely only on verified government platforms for accurate information. It also encouraged prompt reporting of suspicious content to curb its spread.
The incident underscores the growing threat of digital misinformation and the need for heightened vigilance among online users.
