Keshav Puram Shooting Case: Delhi Police Arrest Key Accused

The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Friday arrested 27-year-old Zishan Ahmad Idrishi, wanted in an attempt to murder case stemming from a firing incident in Keshav Puram on the night of Diwali last year.

Idrishi, a resident of B-Block in Keshav Puram, had been evading authorities while frequently changing hideouts to avoid arrest.

The case, registered as FIR No 583/25 under Sections 109(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 27 of the Arms Act, 1959, involved the shooting of Bhanu Kumar, which created panic across the locality.

Non-bailable warrants had been issued by the court after Idrishi repeatedly evaded arrest.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch’s WR-I unit conducted a raid in Chand Nagar, Tilak Nagar, on March 19 and successfully apprehended him.

The operation was led by Inspector Anil Malik, assisted by SI Anshu Kadiyan, W/ASI Narender Kaur, HC Sandeep Yadav, HC Parveen, HC Naveen, and Constable Krishan, under the supervision of ACP Raj Kumar.

Authorities noted that Idrishi has a prior criminal record, including a 2020 case under Sections 307, 506, 120B, and 34 of the IPC and Arms Act provisions for allegedly opening fire with two associates, and a 2022 snatching case at Punjabi Bagh Police Station. Officials confirmed that the investigation into the Keshav Puram firing is ongoing.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Harsh Indora, emphasised that the operation highlights the police’s determination to ensure offenders face the law. He added that authorities remain committed to taking strict action against individuals involved in violent crimes, reinforcing law and order across the national capital.

The swift apprehension of Idrishi marks another significant step in the Crime Branch’s continued crackdown on violent offenders in Delhi.
