The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit on Monday dismissed a fake social media claim alleging that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had expressed support for the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
The government’s fact-checking body termed the viral post ‘fake and fabricated’ and warned citizens against misleading propaganda circulating online.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, PIB Fact Check stated that a Pakistani propaganda account had circulated false claims suggesting that Rajnath Singh made remarks supporting the BLA.
The fact-checking unit clarified that the Defence Minister had made no such statement and urged people not to trust unverified content designed to spread misinformation.
According to the fabricated claim, Rajnath Singh was falsely quoted as saying that India fully supported the BLA and would continue to provide financial aid and weapons to the organisation.
The viral post also falsely claimed that the Defence Minister had reaffirmed this position when questioned by a reporter.
PIB Fact Check categorically rejected the claim and advised the public to stay alert against accounts spreading false narratives regarding the Government of India.
PIB Fact Check urged citizens to report misleading content through its official channels.
The fake post also shared a video from Rajnath Singh’s event in Shirdi, where he inaugurated a defence manufacturing complex and flagged off the ‘Suryastra’ rocket system.
Singh stressed self-reliance in defence production, while PIB also warned against fake schemes linked to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
