Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty recorded a strong upswing on Monday, driven by favourable global trends and reduced geopolitical tensions.
The BSE Sensex jumped 1,073.61 points, or 1.42 per cent, ending the session at 76,488.96. The NSE Nifty also moved higher by 312.4 points, or 1.32 per cent, closing at 24,031.7 and regaining the 24,000 level.
According to market analysts, the Nifty now faces immediate resistance near 24,100, with the 24,300–24,350 range acting as the next hurdle due to visible Open Interest concentration.
On the lower side, the 23,950–24,000 range has emerged as a strong support level following the breakout.
Experts said holding above this support level could sustain the upward trend. A fall below it may trigger a phase of short-term consolidation.
The upward movement was led by notable performers such as Adani Enterprises Limited, Eicher Motors Limited, Larsen & Toubro Limited, and Bajaj Finance Limited.
Financial stocks, especially in the banking space, played a major role in pushing the indices higher.
Market sentiment improved after US President Donald Trump indicated that discussions between the United States and Iran were progressing positively. His remarks raised expectations of a possible reduction in tensions across West Asia.
Trump also suggested that negotiators should proceed cautiously, signalling that there was no urgency to conclude the deal.
Wider market indices also posted gains during the session. The Nifty MidCap index increased by 0.94 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index advanced by 1.37 per cent, reflecting strong participation across sectors.
Among sectoral indices, banking segments such as PSU Bank, Private Bank, and Bank outperformed the broader market. IT, FMCG, and Healthcare sectors trailed slightly but still ended the day in positive territory.
The Indian rupee appreciated to around 95.22 against the US dollar, marking a gain of roughly 0.45 per cent. The currency benefited from improved global risk sentiment and softer crude oil prices.
The market rally highlights growing optimism among investors. Future trends will likely depend on further progress in geopolitical negotiations and stability in global commodity prices.
