PIB Debunks Viral Kolkata Video Claiming Army Entry And Mamata Banerjee Injury

A viral video circulating on social media falsely claims that the Indian Army entered Kolkata in large numbers and was blocked by civilians, while also alleging that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was injured and her residence was attacked by the Central Reserve Police Force.

The video further claims that foreign embassies in Kolkata were ordered to shut down.

In a post on X, Press Information Bureau Fact Check dismissed the claims, stating, “This claim is fake.”

“These claims are part of a coordinated disinformation campaign from Pakistani propaganda networks,” the post further read.

The clarification comes amid growing concerns over the spread of misinformation related to internal security and governance.

Authorities have urged the public not to believe such content and to rely only on verified information from official government sources.

Citizens have also been encouraged to report suspicious content to help curb misinformation.
