The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check Unit has debunked a fake video circulating on Pakistani social media handles that falsely claimed an Indian Army post was destroyed by Pakistani forces.
In a post on X, the Fact Check Unit confirmed the video was staged and clarified that the Indian Army does not have any unit named ’20 Raj Battalion’, as claimed in the video.
“Staged Video Alert. Fake video is being circulated by Pakistani handles alleging that an Indian Post was destroyed by the #Pakistani Army. #PIBFactCheck: The claim is completely false, and the video is staged. There is no unit called “20 Raj Battalion” in the #IndianArmy. This is part of a coordinated propaganda campaign aimed at creating panic and misleading the public,” the post read.
Separately, the Fact Check Unit also dismissed viral social media claims that suggested a nationwide entry ban at Indian airports.
“Fake News Alert. Social media posts are claiming that entry to airports across India banned. #PIBFactCheck: This claim is #FAKE. Government has taken no such decision,” the unit posted on X.
These clarifications come as India-Pakistan tensions have escalated following the Indian Army’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on 7 May.
According to Indian officials, the strikes targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). These camps were linked to infrastructure used by groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The operation was launched in retaliation for the 22 April terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
