Violence Against Women In Manipur Moves Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, And Other Celebrities

On July 19, a distressing video showing two Manipur women being stripped, paraded naked, and abused went viral online. Conflicts between the Kukis, a tribe from the hills in the north-eastern state of Manipur, and the majority Meitei, who live in the Imphal Valley, have been going on since May of this year. Following this incident and the subsequent skirmishes, a number of Bollywood A-listers, including Sonu Sood, Kiara Advani, Renuka Shahane, and Akshay Kumar, have denounced the violence that took place in the state.

Celebs reactions

One of the first famous people to respond to the atrocity occurring in Manipur was Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. He tweeted on July 20 that he was “shook and disgusted to see the video of violence against women in Manipur.” I hope the offenders receive such severe punishment that nobody will ever consider carrying out such a heinous act once more.

Actress Kiara Advani has pleaded for the women’s legal rights. “The video of violence against women in Manipur is horrifying and has left me completely shaken,” she wrote in a tweet. I hope the women receive justice as soon as possible. The most sever punishment due to those involved must be administered.

In response to the terrifying footage, Richa Chadha also spoke up. The act was described as “shameful! Horrific! Lawless!”

Sonu Sood recently tweeted, “Manipur video has shaken everyone’s soul,” condemning the violence. Not the women, but mankind as a whole was showcased.

Actress Renuka Shahane criticised the violence’s “inhumane nature.” Is there no one to halt the crimes in Manipur? she asked on Twitter. Is it really appropriate to call oneself human, much less Bharatiya or Indian, if that horrible film of two ladies doesn’t leave you in a state of complete disbelief?

The ‘horrific deed’ disappointed author Kanika Dhillon, who posted her disapproval on Twitter. “Manipur!” she wrote, “@unwomenindia @NCWIndia! This appalling act committed against the #Kuki women… I hope they receive justice.

On social media, the incident has also prompted widespread outrage and disgust. Twitter has been seeing a hashtag craze with phrases like “Manipur Violence,” “Shameful,” and “Enough is Enough.” The crowd that harassed the women in the video has to be stopped immediately, say online users. According to recent reports, the key suspect in the rape case has reportedly been detained by police as a result of this public outrage.
