Filmmaker-actor Tannishtha Chatterjee’s new project, Full Plate, will kick off the Indian Film Festival of Sydney this October.
The film, anchored by Kirti Kulhari, has already made waves with its world debut set at the Busan International Film Festival 2025.

Sharib Hashmi, Monica Dogra and Indraneil Sengupta join Kirti Kulhari in important supporting roles. Chatterjee called the endeavour personal.
“When Mitu asked me to open the Indian Film Festival of Sydney with ‘Full Plate’, I felt humbled and grateful. This film was born out of struggle, grit, hope and sharing it with Sydney feels like completing the circle,” She added.
Festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange AM praised both the film and its maker.
“There is something deeply resonant about opening with Full Plate,” she said.
“Tannishtha’s courage and her determination to tell this story despite overwhelming odds show why Indian cinema matters. It not only entertains, it heals and challenges,” she added.
The festival returns after a break, bringing three days of cinema from October 9 to 11.
Recently, veteran actress Shabana Azmi revealed on Instagram that Chatterjee finished ‘Full Plate’ while undergoing treatment for stage 4 oligo metastatic cancer.
In photos with Tannishtha and friends, Azmi referred to her as ‘the Rock of Gibraltar, applauding her strength. Chatterjee, famed for ‘Parched’ and ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’, remains a source of inspiration.
