Riteish, Genelia Visit Shivaji Temple Ahead Of ‘Raja Shivaji’ Release

Ahead of the release of ‘Raja Shivaji’, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh travelled to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Temple to offer prayers and seek blessings for their film.

The couple took part in a traditional aarti ceremony and later engaged with admirers gathered at the temple premises. They received a lively welcome featuring dhol-tasha performances, followed by a grand Maha Aarti.

Women dressed in navvari sarees and a large turnout of locals created a festive atmosphere.

Organisers arranged a decorative reception that included a detailed rangoli inspired by the theme of ‘Raja Shivaji’. The display reflected the cultural roots associated with the subject of the film.

Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the film brings together actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amol Gupte.

Riteish has also taken on writing, production, and the lead role in the project.

‘Raja Shivaji’ portrays the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, focusing on his efforts to establish an independent kingdom while challenging the dominant powers of his time. The narrative also touches upon significant historical episodes such as the 1663 Pune raid on Shaista Khan.

Cinematography for the film is handled by Santosh Sivan, while editing responsibilities are managed by Urvashi Saxena.

The project is backed by Jio Studios. It is produced under Mumbai Film Company with support from Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh.

The film is set for a global theatrical release on May 1. It will be released in several languages, including Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu, aiming to reach audiences across regions.
