Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day tour of Uttar Pradesh aimed at advancing infrastructure, encouraging women’s participation, and strengthening connectivity. The itinerary includes important engagements in Varanasi and Hardoi.
On April 28, PM Narendra Modi will take part in a Mahila Sammelan in Varanasi. He is likely to highlight various government schemes focused on women’s welfare.
The programme will highlight the contribution of women to national progress and reflect the government’s development approach.
In addition, PM Modi will lay foundation stones for over 112 projects valued at around ₹5,300 crore. These initiatives cover water supply and sewerage systems under AMRUT 2.0, the construction of a 500-bed multi-super-speciality hospital, and the development of commercial facilities in prominent city locations.
PM Narendra Modi will also inaugurate two Amrit Bharat Express trains. One will connect Banaras with Pune (Hadapsar), and the other will link Ayodhya with Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus). This will improve intercity rail connectivity and passenger convenience.
On April 29, PM Modi will offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple before proceeding to Hardoi to officially inaugurate the Ganga Expressway. He will also address the public during the event.
The 594-kilometre-long Ganga Expressway, developed at an estimated cost of ₹36,230 crore, will pass through 12 districts, connecting Meerut to Prayagraj via a high-speed corridor. The project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between these cities to about six hours.
A major feature of the expressway is a 3.5-kilometre emergency landing strip in Shahjahanpur. This adds a strategic dimension to the project.
Planners have designed the expressway as a key economic corridor and proposed integrated manufacturing and logistics zones along its route. The project will lower transportation costs, streamline supply chains, and improve farmers’ access to markets.
The project is likely to promote tourism, create employment opportunities, and drive overall economic development across Uttar Pradesh.
