Actress Rashmika Mandanna has responded to criticism of her relationship with Vijay Deverakonda. The debate gained attention following their appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 9.
In an Instagram post, Rashmika said online reactions felt less like opinions and more like an “angry mob” looking for someone to target. She explained that she chose to speak out to defend people who still believe in love.
Addressing claims that she proposed to Vijay for an entire year, Rashmika clarified that neither of them wanted a grand proposal. Instead, they took time to understand their relationship and make a mutual decision.
She said they wanted to be certain about their choice despite life’s highs, lows, joys and stresses. ‘We chose each other’, she wrote.
Rashmika also highlighted Vijay’s support during difficult moments. She said he stands by her when she faces physical pain, needs hospital care or experiences anxiety.
The Pushpa actress firmly defended her family against online attacks. She said people could criticise her, but targeting her family without knowing them was unacceptable.
“That’s not feminism. That’s bullying dressed up as feminism,” she wrote.
Rashmika added that feminism should not involve putting others down or claiming superiority over men or women.
For her, it means having the freedom to make personal choices and take control of one’s life. She concluded that taking charge of her own decisions had brought her immense love.
