The makers also unveiled a release date announcement teaser featuring Vinayakan issuing a warning to Rajinikanth’s character before the superstar makes a stylish entry alongside glimpses of other key characters.
The film has generated significant anticipation since its announcement.
In April, the makers confirmed that shooting had been completed and marked the occasion with a cake-cutting ceremony.
Earlier, on April 4, Rajinikanth had said the film was in its finishing stage and that the production house would announce the release date.
The sequel follows the blockbuster success of Jailer, which grossed around ₹650 crore worldwide.
The first film also recorded the biggest opening day of Rajinikanth’s career overseas, with distributor Ayngaran International reporting collections of ₹33 crore on its first day.
Sources close to the production say Jailer 2 has shaped up on similar lines to its predecessor.
The film also stars Ramya Krishnan and Mirnaa, with Mohanlal and Vijay Sethupathi also having shot for the film. Anirudh Ravichander has once again composed the music.
