Rashmika Mandanna
In this age of internet, image morphing and editing has become really convenient. For most times, all that is used for creating fun pictures that are circulated over the internet but as the technology is growing every single day, the dark side of tech is also being exposed to the world.
Recently, a fake video of Rashmika Mandanna was going viral all over the internet in which she can be seen entering an elevator of a building. Sharing the reality behind the video, the Bollywood actress wrote a very deep message on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused. Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.”
Recently, a video appeared to show Rashmika Mandanna entering an elevator. When it was discovered that the woman in the video is actually British-Indian influencer Zara Patel, the video went viral and startled the Internet. With the use of deepfake technology, Ms. Patel’s visage has been transformed into Rashmika Mandanna’s.
Star Amitabh Bachchan was among many who were incensed by the edited film and demanded legal action. In the movie Goodbye, Mr. Bachchan and Ms. Mandanna starred together.
Animal, costarring Ranbir Kapoor, is Rashmika Mandanna’s huge upcoming release. She was last seen in Mission Majnu. She will star opposite Allu Arjun in Pushpa: The Rule, another highly anticipated movie, which opens next year.
