‘Emotional And Difficult’: Karan Johar On David Dhawan’s Last Film

Karan Johar admitted he felt mixed emotions after veteran director David Dhawan informed him that Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai would be his final venture. He described the moment as both touching and difficult to process.

Karan remarked that Dhawan has carved out a unique space in Hindi cinema with his entertaining storytelling approach. He noted that films directed by Dhawan have consistently delivered mass appeal and set a high standard for commercial entertainers.

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Karan Johar wrote that the announcement left a strong emotional impact, considering Dhawan’s long-standing influence in the industry. He pointed out that Dhawan’s work has inspired numerous filmmakers over the years and continues to resonate across generations.

Karan Johar added that the director enjoys immense admiration and respect within the film fraternity. He also conveyed his good wishes for the upcoming film and hailed Dhawan as one of the industry’s most celebrated figures.

Over a career spanning more than 40 years, David Dhawan has delivered several major hits, including Raja Babu, Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, and Partner, among others.

The film marks his fourth collaboration with his son Varun Dhawan after Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No 1.

The project also features Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde in leading roles, supported by an ensemble cast.

The film is being produced by Tips Industries under Ramesh Taurani and is slated for a theatrical release on 12 June.

As David Dhawan prepares to conclude his filmmaking journey, the industry acknowledges his lasting legacy and looks forward to his final release as a fitting tribute to his career.
