Ed Sheeran recently shared glimpses of his India trip on his YouTube channel, showcasing his day out in Mumbai alongside comedian Tanmay Bhat and cricketer Shubman Gill. Amidst their conversation, Ed revealed his anticipation to meet Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan later that day. To Ed’s surprise, Shubman disclosed that he used to play for Shah Rukh’s IPL team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, prompting a playful inquiry about why he wasn’t retained.
In the YouTube video, Ed, Tanmay, and Shubman were seen sampling Indian delicacies at a restaurant. Ed expressed his excitement about meeting Shah Rukh Khan, to which Shubman casually mentioned his past association with Shah Rukh’s team. Tanmay chimed in to explain Shah Rukh’s ownership of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Shubman then lightened the mood with his jestful request to Ed to inquire about his non-retention, leading to laughter all around.’
Ed further shared his admiration for Shah Rukh, mentioning his previous encounter with the actor and his penchant for watching Bollywood films during travels. He acknowledged the widespread influence of Shah Rukh’s movies, often finding a dedicated section on flights.
Before this, Ed had shared a video on Instagram featuring him and Shah Rukh, playfully recreating the actor’s iconic pose. Captioned “This is the Shape of Us. Spreading love together…”, the post showcased their camaraderie.
Ed’s visit to India culminated in a memorable performance at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai as part of his +-=/x Tour (Mathematics) on March 16. Joining him on stage was singer Diljit Dosanjh, with whom he performed their hit song “Lover” to the delight of the audience.
