Ayushmann Khurana in Dream Girl 2
Dream Girl 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday, hit theatres on August 25. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie had a respectable debut weekend, taking in Rs 9.7 crore. On Friday, Dream Girl 2’s Hindi occupancy was 29.51% overall.
Ayushmann is hoping that the movie will be a huge commercial success since his last four films, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Anek, Doctor G, and An Action Hero, were box-office disappointments.
Because films like Gadar 2, Jailer, and OMG 2 have already been in theatres for two weeks, Dream Girl 2 doesn’t now face any formidable competition. The movie is a follow-up to Dream Girl, which came out in 2019. According to Bollywood Hungama, Dream Girl had a similar opening and made Rs 10.50 crore on its first day, but it ended up being the biggest hit of Ayushmann’s career, earning Rs 142 crore.
Since the pandemic-induced downturn, the Indian box office has been on an upward trend, exhibiting signs of recovery. The opening day revenue for Dream Girl 2 is comparable to that of recent films like OMG 2 (Rs 10.26 crore), Satyaprem Ki Katha (Rs 9.25 crore), and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11 crore).
Ekta and Shobha Kapoor are the producers of the movie, which is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and released by Balaji Motion Pictures. Paresh Rawal, Manjot Singh, Seema Pahwa, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, Asrani, Vijay Raaz, and Manoj Joshi are among the other actors who appear in the movie.
