The critically acclaimed actor is one of the more cerebral actors we have in the Indian Entertainment industry. She debuted in Bollywood in 2003 with the film Dhoop. She has since gone onto work in critically acclaimed films and series like Dor, Manorama Six Feet Under, Kashmeer and Family man among others.
The lady knows how to fly and quite literally m She is trained to fly a plane. She is also the first Indian woman to drive a Formula E racing car at the Circuit de Calafat in Catalonia, Spain. She drove Mahindra Racing’s M4 Electro. Adventure and surprises are Gul’s middle name.
She holds a degree in political science and has a deep interest in social and political issues which is quite evident from her social media feed.
She also contested elections in Chandigarh on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party in 2014.
Gul is married to her boyfriend of many years, Rishi Atri, who is also a pilot. The adventurous couple arrived at their wedding on a bullet.
The couple are very protective about their private life and when she gave birth to her son after seven years of marriage they kept it under wraps for the longest time and only people only got to know after her son was born. At a time where attention hungry celebrities would go to any length and compromise on their privacy and even pull publicity stunts. Gul’s values are something to be admired.
Gul Panag has been part of varied genres of films and series from sensitive portrayals to tough ones Gul has done it all in reel and real life.
She has been awarded with the Zee Cine Critics Award for Best Actress for her sensitive portrayal in the film Dor in 2009.
In 2020, she was Nominated for the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Supporting Actress for the Drama Series Paatal Lok.
Gul Panag’s latest outing as actor is in the Nandita Das film Zwigato which has Kapil Sharma in the lead. The film after touring International Film Festivals had its India release at the International Film Festival of Kerala in December 2020.
