‘Bhooth Bangla’ Trailer Leans On Nostalgia, Mixes Horror With Familiar Comic Elements

The trailer of Bhooth Bangla, featuring Akshay Kumar, was released on Monday. It brings director Priyadarshan together once again with actors Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav.

The trailer suggests that the filmmakers have taken a safe approach. It blends horror with humour while trying to appeal to a wide audience.

The storyline appears engaging at first glance. However, it heavily draws on elements from earlier films, including several linked to Akshay Kumar’s past projects.

The mansion shown in the trailer closely mirrors the setting of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, reinforcing similarities with the earlier film. Moreover, well-known dialogues that later gained popularity as memes have been reused to add comic value.

A key highlight is the inclusion of the song ‘Ram Ji Bhala Karein’, which draws from the hook line of ‘Bhuter Raja Dilo Bor’, originally featured in the National Award-winning Bengali film Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne directed by Satyajit Ray.

The interaction between Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav in the film also resembles their pairing in Bhool Bhulaiyaa, further strengthening the nostalgic tone.

Cast, Delay and Release Details

In addition to Akshay Kumar, the film stars Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani and Mithila Palkar in prominent roles.

The release date was earlier postponed by the makers. Co-producer Ektaa Kapoor shared the update on social media, attributing the decision to the strong box office performance of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh.

The film is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms, in collaboration with Cape of Good Films.

Directed by Priyadarshan, it is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor.

‘Bhooth Bangla’ is slated for a theatrical release on April 16, 2026.
