Anurag Kashyap praises Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s recent cinematic venture, featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, has seen substantial success at the box office, accompanied by its fair share of criticism. While the film has faced accusations of misogyny and glorification of violence, the debate surrounding its content has been further fueled by prominent figures like Javed Akhtar, who views the success of such movies as potentially perilous.
Amid this ongoing discourse, director Anurag Kashyap, known for his contributions to crime and drama genres, has stepped forward to voice his support for Vanga. The two directors recently connected, and Kashyap took to Instagram to share moments from their evening together, commending Vanga for his work.
In a heartfelt caption, Kashyap expressed his admiration, stating, “Had a great evening with @sandeepreddy.vanga. The most misunderstood, judged and reviled filmmaker at the moment. To me, he is the most honest, vulnerable, and lovely human being.”
Kashyap continued by sharing insights into their conversation, “I wanted to meet the man, and I had questions, and he answered everything I asked of him about his film that I actually saw twice. Thank you for being patient and being yourself. 40 days since I first saw ANIMAL and 22 days since I saw it the second time. The biggest game-changer of Hindi cinema in the longest time and a film whose impact (good or bad) which can’t be denied. And the filmmaker who takes it all on his chin. Great evening spent with him.”
The film, titled “Animal,” explores the narrative of a father engrossed in work, oblivious to the deep love and admiration from his son. This emotional gap becomes a breeding ground for conflict, and when an assassination attempt targets the father, the son responds with an unrelenting rampage. Despite the controversy, the film has achieved blockbuster status, culminating in a celebratory event attended by notable figures in Bollywood last week.
