An Injustice Delivered By the Justice of Supreme Court

After the erroneous ruling that the Supreme Court just issued about such a horrible crime, can Law truly be described as “just”?

The mother of the Chhawla gang rape victim sobbed after learning that all three defendants had been found not guilty by the Supreme Court on Monday. “We have not just lost the struggle, but also the desire to live,” she added.

After struggling for more than 11 years, the victim’s father claimed that the Supreme Court “let them down” and that they had lost trust in the legal system.

In addition, he claimed that the system profited off their destitution.

Three men Ravi Kumar, Rahul and Vinod who had been given the death penalty for the 2012 gang rape and murder of a 19-year-old woman in Delhi’s Chhawla neighbourhood were exonerated by the Supreme Court.

The three defendants were given the death punishment in 2014 by a trial judge, which referred to the case as one of a kind. The Delhi High Court later affirmed the verdict.

The lady was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and brutally murdered by the three guys in February 2012. Three days after her kidnapping, her mangled body was discovered.

“Even after 11 years, the conclusion is this. We’ve gone crazy… The fight was lost by us. I kept holding onto this optimism. I no longer have the will to live. The victim’s mother sobbed outside the apex court’s walls, “I hoped my daughter would get justice.

What was meant to happen to criminals eventually occurred to us, according to the victim’s father.

It had been 11 years since we were hopping from one pillar to another. The decision was also made public by the lower court. We were happy. We received assurance also from the High Court. But the Supreme Court failed us. We eventually experienced what was anticipated to occur with criminals, he told the media.

“Poor people are not welcome in our nation’s law and order system. Would a wealthy, powerful person or politician have had the same outcome as us if something had occurred to them? In general, it’s like exploiting poverty, he said.

According to the prosecution, the woman worked in Gurugram’s Cyber City area and belonged to Uttarakhand. She was returning from her workplace and was near her home when the three men abducted her in a car.

When she didn’t return home, her parents lodged a missing person report, the prosecution said, adding that the woman’s mutilated and decomposed body was found in a village in Haryana’s Rewari.

The police found multiple injuries on the woman’s body. Further investigation and autopsy revealed she was attacked with car tools, glass bottles, metal objects, and other weapons. She was also raped, they said.

Police arrested the three men involved in the crime and said one of the accused allegedly took revenge after the woman turned down his proposal.
