In a big relief to Adani ports, the Supreme Court on Wednesday put a pause on Gujarat High Court order that had asked the state government to recover 108 hectares of grazing land that had been allotted to the ports company.
The Supreme Court has sought a reply from Gujarat Government.
The case is rooted in the year 2005 when 108 hectare of land was allotted to Adani Group.
When Adani Group and SEZ started building boundary in 2010, the villager objected to the action in Navinal village.
Later villager approached the High Court with a public interest litigation challenging the allotment of 231 hectares of grazing land to Adani Ports.

They contended that this allotment would leave them with only 45 acres. Villagers also added that the hamlet was already short on grazing space.
The state administration claimed that an order approving 387 hectares of government land for grazing had been passed
A senior revenue officer was tasked by the court in April of this year to find a solution. The official replied that about 108 hectares, or 266 acres, of land that had been granted to Adani Ports in 2005. The land were to be reclaimed by the state government.
The state informed the court in a petition filed in 2015 that the village panchayat could only get 17 hectares. The state government suggested allocating the remaining land, which is located roughly seven kilometers away. The locals disagreed, claiming that the distance is too far for livestock to graze.
