Sensex, Nifty End Higher As Markets Extend Rally On Global Cues

Indian equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 resumed their upward momentum on Friday after a brief pause, as investors tracked developments in West Asia and weighed their impact on global markets.

Both indices ended the session higher, extending their recent gaining streak.

At the closing bell, the Sensex rose 918.6 points, or 1.20 per cent, to settle at 77,550.25. The Nifty followed suit, closing at 24,050.6, up 275.5 points, or 1.16 per cent.

The rally in frontline indices was driven by select heavyweights, with Asian Paints, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, and Shriram Finance leading the gains on the Nifty.

Broader markets outperformed the benchmarks, signalling strong investor participation beyond large-cap stocks.

The Nifty MidCap index climbed 1.48 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index advanced 1.67 per cent.

Sectoral performance remained mixed during the session. The Nifty IT index emerged as the top gainer, supported by buying interest in technology stocks.

In contrast, the Nifty Auto, Nifty Bank, and Nifty Financial Services indices lagged, underperforming the broader market.

Analysts noted that sentiment remained cautiously optimistic, as traders balanced geopolitical risks with continued domestic buying support.

Earlier in the day, both benchmarks opened sharply higher, mirroring global market gains despite tensions in West Asia and concerns over the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

During intra-day trade, the Sensex touched a high of 77,622.50, while the Nifty reached 24,074.05.

At the opening bell, the Sensex began at 77,121, up 489 points or 0.64 per cent, while the Nifty opened at 23,880, gaining 100 points or 0.44 per cent.
