Lawyer Shasha Jain took to Twitter to express her concerns about Patanjali’s alleged use of a non-vegetarian ingredient in their product. She stated that she had issued a legal notice to Patanjali, seeking explanations regarding the deceptive labeling of the product, Divya Dant Manjan, as green while containing Samudra phen (cuttlefish). Jain argued that this act violates consumer rights and is offensive to the vegetarian community and other similar communities.

Lawyer Shasha Jain pointed out in her tweet that the ingredient list of the mentioned product by Patanjali includes ‘Samundra Fen’ (Sepia Officinalis), which is a well-known term for common cuttlefish.

Lawyer Shasha Jain posted a copy of the legal notice she sent to Patanjali, urging the company to address the allegations of using non-vegetarian ingredients within a 15-day period. In a separate incident, the Ayurvedic and Unani Services authorities in Uttarakhand initially ordered Patanjali’s Divya Pharmacy to cease the production of five drugs in November of the previous year, but this decision was subsequently reversed.

Divya Pharmacy faced action after Dr. K.V. Babu, an ophthalmologist from Kerala, filed a complaint. Dr. Babu raised concerns about an advertisement by the company, which falsely claimed that their eye drops could treat conditions like glaucoma, cataract, and other eye ailments. He stressed the potential danger to human life posed by such misleading advertisements, as untreated eye problems can potentially result in blindness.
