Navi Mumbai International Airport Crosses 1 Lakh Passengers Within 19 Days Of Operations

Navi Mumbai International Airport has crossed the one lakh passenger mark within just 19 days of commencing commercial operations. This underscores strong early acceptance among travellers.

As of January 12, the airport handled a total of 1,09,917 passengers, including 55,934 arrivals and 53,983 departures.

The highest footfall was recorded on January 10, when 7,345 passengers travelled through the airport.

The surge highlights the rapid adoption of NMIA as a preferred travel hub soon after its opening.

NMIA began commercial passenger flight operations on December 25, 2025, with an initial capacity of 2 crore passengers annually.

Between December 25 and January 12, the airport recorded 734 aircraft movements, including 32 general aviation flights.

During this period, the airport handled 40,260 arriving bags and 38,774 departing bags, reflecting smooth baggage operations alongside rising passenger numbers.

Along with passenger services, NMIA managed 22.21 tonnes of cargo, indicating its growing role as a combined passenger and cargo facility.

Delhi, Goa and Bengaluru have emerged as the most popular routes so far, accounting for the highest number of flights.

According to NMIA officials, the steady rise in passenger traffic is being driven by modern infrastructure, simplified processes and efficient management.

The airport is expanding its operations gradually while maintaining a strong focus on safety and service quality.
