Navi Mumbai Airport Boosts Inflight Catering Capacity With TajSATS Ahead Of Winter Schedule

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has expanded its inflight catering infrastructure through TajSATS ahead of the Winter 2026-27 schedule, running from October 25 to March 27, 2027.

The dedicated flight kitchen serves more than 40 departing flights daily and produces up to 7,500 meals. It can increase its capacity to 15,000 meals a day as airline operations and passenger traffic grow.

“As NMIA expands its airline network, it is important that our supporting infrastructure grows with it,” said Subhash Murikenchery, Chief Airport Officer, Navi Mumbai International Airport.

“The TajSATS flight kitchen gives airlines the flexibility to meet rising demand and enhances the culinary experience for passengers,” he added.

The facility features advanced production infrastructure, refrigeration systems and processes designed to respond to changing airline schedules and demand. Its location within the airport precinct enables efficient meal delivery to departing aircraft.

NMIA provides local meal-uplift services for international carriers operating to and from India. The facility gives airlines an additional catering option closer to their departure point.

Around 40 per cent of international carriers operating from India rely on back catering from their own flight kitchens, the airport said. The NMIA facility supports this requirement alongside domestic airline demand.

The kitchen serves both domestic and international carriers and can prepare special meals, allergen-sensitive menus and halal options.

NMIA said the facility complies with HACCP, ISO 22000 and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations.

TajSATS has over four decades of experience in aviation catering. It operates the flight kitchen at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The facility is fully operational and designed to scale with future growth in connectivity and passenger volumes.
