Maha Kumbh 2025 Set To Boost Economy With Over ₹4 Lakh Crore Trade

The Maha Kumbh 2025 is set to begin in Prayagraj on Monday at the confluence of the holy Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The event, known as the largest religious congregation on Earth, is expected to generate over ₹4 lakh crore in trade. Industry experts predict that this will significantly boost India’s GDP, contributing more than 1% to the country’s economy.

Economic Impact Driven By Massive Attendance

The Uttar Pradesh government anticipates approximately 40 crore visitors, both domestic and international, will attend the 45-day event. Officials estimate that if each visitor spends ₹5,000, the trade generated will total ₹2 lakh crore. However, industry experts believe the average expenditure per visitor could rise to ₹10,000, pushing the economic impact to ₹4 lakh crore.

Companies from across India and abroad are competing for space to promote their brands during the mega event. Businesses in sectors such as FMCG, pharmaceuticals, mobility, and digital payments are expected to spend over ₹3,000 crore on branding and marketing. This investment highlights the importance of the event as a platform to reach millions of consumers.

Massive Preparations Transform Prayagraj

Prayagraj has undergone a significant makeover to accommodate the influx of devotees. Authorities have built and upgraded over 200 roads, ensuring smooth connectivity. These roads have been beautified with over 3 lakh plants and 1 lakh horticultural samplings to enhance their visual appeal.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a public sector giant, has supplied approximately 45,000 tonnes of steel for the construction of various structures at the event. The steel includes chequered plates, mild steel plates, hot strip mill plates, angles, and joists.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 is not just a spiritual event but also an economic powerhouse. It provides businesses with unparalleled opportunities to connect with a global audience while contributing significantly to India’s economy. The scale of the event and the preparations involved reaffirm its status as a global spectacle and a driver of economic growth.

The grand preparations and anticipated massive turnout highlight the importance of this event. As the world’s largest congregation, the Maha Kumbh stands as a testament to India’s rich cultural and economic potential.
