Jeet Adani Announces Helicopter Manufacturing Ecosystem In India

Adani Defence & Aerospace Director Jeet Adani on Tuesday said the company will build helicopter manufacturing capabilities in India for generations through a strategic partnership with Italian multinational Leonardo Helicopters.

Speaking at the announcement of the collaboration, Jeet Adani said the initiative aims to create a fully integrated ecosystem on Indian soil, bringing together manufacturing, assembly, training and world-class support.

He emphasised that beyond infrastructure, the partnership would build long-term confidence in India’s indigenous helicopter capabilities.

Under the partnership, Adani Defence and Leonardo Helicopters will develop, manufacture and sustain rotary-wing aircraft in India, with a focus on phased indigenisation.

The collaboration will also establish robust maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities and comprehensive pilot training programmes to meet the operational needs of the Indian armed forces.

Jeet Adani highlighted the wider social relevance of helicopters, noting their critical role in medical services, disaster response and connectivity.

He pointed out that countries such as Brazil and Japan have effectively used rotary-wing aircraft to save lives and support communities, adding that India’s growing cities and rising aspirations demand similar capabilities.

The Adani Defence director said the helicopter initiative aligns with the group’s broader aviation and aerospace vision, which integrates both fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms.

He cited the recently announced collaboration with Embraer as part of this long-term strategy to build a comprehensive national aviation ecosystem serving both civil and defence sectors.

Jeet Adani expressed gratitude to the Central government for its consistent support, noting that the presence of the Defence Secretary and Civil Aviation Secretary underscored India’s commitment to building world-class aerospace infrastructure.

He said the partnership would contribute meaningfully to India’s aerospace ambitions and strengthen self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
