IndiGo led the market, flying 86.40 lakh passengers with a 63.3% share, followed by Air India and Vistara, which carried 26.48 lakh and 12.43 lakh passengers, respectively.
Air India, including Air India Express, held a market share of 19.4%, while Vistara accounted for 9.1%. SpiceJet and Akasa Air recorded shares of 2.4% and 5.4%, flying 3.35 lakh and 6.16 lakh passengers, respectively.
November marked a milestone for the Indian aviation sector, with 5,05,412 domestic passengers departing on November 17, setting a new record. Flight departures reached 3,173, with over 90% occupancy reported by major carriers.
IndiGo topped the on-time performance charts in October, achieving 71.9% punctuality across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Alliance Air had the lowest on-time performance at 54.4%.
The Indian aviation sector also saw significant restructuring. Vistara, previously a Tata-Singapore Airlines joint venture, merged with Air India on November 12. Singapore Airlines announced an investment of ₹3,194.5 crore in Air India following the merger.
In another move, Air India subsidiaries AirAsia India and Air India Express merged to form a unified low-cost airline. These consolidations aim to strengthen Air India’s position in the global and domestic markets.
The Indian aviation sector continues to grow, with rising passenger traffic and evolving corporate structures paving the way for future advancements.
