Domestic indices ended the day in the green, halting a three-day losing trend. The Nifty 50 closed at 19,517, up 135.35 points, while the Sensex rose 480 points to 65,721.25.
The Bank Nifty climbed 0.82% to 44,879.50. Nifty Auto fell 0.33%, while Nifty IT, Nifty Consumer Durables, and Nifty Pharma were the top trade sector winners.
In the broader markets, the Nifty 100, Nifty 200, and Nifty 500 all rose by 0.71% to 0.73%. The Nifty Midcap 100 dropped 0.82%, while the Nifty Smallcap lost 0.7%.
In Asian markets, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong went higher, while Seoul closed lower.
Early trades in European markets showed gains.
In the overnight trade on Thursday, US markets finished modestly lower.
Brent crude rose 0.62 percent to USD 85.67 a barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold securities worth Rs 317.46 crore on Thursday.
