Air India Names Jayaraj Shanmugam as Head of Global Airport Operations

Air India announced the appointment of Jayaraj Shanmugam as its Head of Global Airport Operations on Monday. Shanmugam is set to assume his new role on April 15, 2024, and will report directly to Chief Operations Officer Klaus Goersch.

According to a statement from Air India, Shanmugam joins the airline from Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), where he served as Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure at BIAL, he played a significant role in operationalizing Terminal 2, demonstrating his expertise in airport management and operations.

With over 25 years of industry experience across airlines, airports, and the telecom sectors, Jayaraj Shanmugam has held notable positions in organizations such as Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Jet Airways. His appointment signifies a strategic move by Air India to strengthen its global airport operations under his leadership.
