At Hamirpur’s Pinewood School, located close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, the Adani Group has completed the construction of a modern 510-seat auditorium and a secure boundary wall.
Undertaken in partnership with the Indian Army, the project is part of a broader effort to enhance educational opportunities in sensitive border areas.
Through Adani Defence and its CSR arm, the Adani Foundation, the group funded and built the auditorium, while the boundary wall strengthens the safety of students in this strategically important region.
Pinewood School, operated by the BG Brigade Hamirpur Battalion in the Balakot sector, has served the community since 1995, when it was launched under the Army’s ‘Operation Sadbhavana’ initiative with only 35 pupils.
Today, the institution educates around 400 students, from pre-primary classes up to Year 12.
The new auditorium, inaugurated by Major General Kaushik Mukherjee, equipped to host both academic and cultural programmes, providing students with a venue that supports a wider range of learning experiences.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal described the project as an example of the Army’s long-standing commitment to improving life in border areas, noting that the facility offers high-quality infrastructure for children in remote communities.
The initiative reflects growing collaboration between the Indian Army and private sector partners.
While the Adani Group was responsible for the auditorium and boundary wall, J&K Bank, JSW Group, and Allen Institute contributed to other upgrades.
According to Lt Col Bartwal, these improvements not only raise the standard of education infrastructure but also encourage young people in isolated regions to pursue their ambitions.
The project highlights how coordinated Army–corporate efforts can bring tangible benefits to communities living in challenging environments near the LoC.
