Adani Green Surpasses 15,000 MW Of Renewable Energy Capacity

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 15,000 megawatts (MW) of operational renewable energy capacity, with a total of 15,539.9 MW.

This achievement marks the largest and fastest capacity build-up of renewable energy in India, reinforcing AGEL’s role in driving India’s green energy transformation.

Operational portfolio breakdown

AGEL’s operational portfolio includes 11,005.5 MW of solar, 1,977.8 MW of wind, and 2,556.6 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity.

With this remarkable accomplishment, AGEL has become India’s largest renewable energy company, achieving the milestone primarily through greenfield projects.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed his pride in the achievement, “Delighted to share that Adani Green has surpassed 15,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, marking the largest and fastest green energy build-out in India’s history.”

“From the desert landscapes of Khavda to a proud place among the world’s Top 10 Green Power Producers, this milestone reflects our commitment to the planet and our resolve to drive India’s green resurgence.”

CEO Ashish Khanna also celebrated the achievement, stating, “Surpassing the 15,000 MW milestone is a moment of immense pride. This is a testament to our team’s relentless focus and dedication. We would not have achieved this without the far-sighted leadership of our promoters and the unwavering support of our investors, customers, team, and partners.”

He further emphasised AGEL’s ongoing commitment: “Inspired by Gautam Adani’s ambition to position Adani as the global leader in renewable energy, AGEL is committed to setting new benchmarks in innovation and operational excellence, proving that clean energy can be delivered at unprecedented scale and speed.”

Impact on India’s energy landscape:

The 15,539.9 MW operational portfolio of AGEL can power approximately 7.9 million households, with clean energy lighting up 13 individual Indian states.

Meanwhile, AGEL’s renewable energy output is capable of powering the entire Northeast region of India.

This milestone comes as AGEL celebrates its 10th anniversary of powering India with clean and affordable energy at unmatched speed and scale.

Looking ahead, Khanna outlined AGEL’s future vision: “We aim to accelerate even faster from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030, remaining steadfast in our mission to power India and the world with sustainable energy solutions.”

AGEL is also developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant at Khavda, Kutch, Gujarat—a 30,000 MW capacity plant. Built across 538 sq km, it will be five times the size of Paris and visible from space.

Once complete, this project will also be the largest power plant on Earth, across all energy sources.

As of now, AGEL has already operationalised 5,355.9 MW of renewable energy at Khavda, underscoring the company’s pivotal role in contributing to India’s ambitious target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

This remarkable achievement further sets a new benchmark for the global renewable energy sector and positions AGEL as a key player in the world’s green energy transformation.
