President Droupadi Murmu will visit Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, for two days starting Monday. She will attend the first convocation ceremony of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gorakhpur.
On July 1, she will inaugurate Uttar Pradesh’s first AYUSH University in Pipri, Bhathat.
This university aims to boost traditional medicine and holistic healthcare education in the state.
This visit marks President Murmu’s fourth trip to Gorakhpur in seven years. She comes again at the invitation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The president’s visit also highlights Gorakhpur’s growing national importance. It is the second recent visit by a sitting President to AIIMS and a major state university in the city.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally reviewed the 31-kilometre route from Gorakhpur city to Pipri. He ensured all arrangements met the highest standards.
Authorities have tightened security for the visit.
SP Abhinav Tyagi confirmed that they have fully secured the AIIMS auditorium and campus.
AIIMS Gorakhpur suspended outpatient services on June 30 for the event.
A 5-km no-fly zone is in place around the Circuit House. Authorities have set up a three-tier security system.
President Murmu is expected to offer prayers at the Gorakhnath Temple during her visit. The temple will provide special meals reflecting her status.
Earlier in April, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone for a 500-bed ‘Powergrid Vishram Sadan’ at AIIMS Gorakhpur.
This rest house aims to support patients and their families. It is being developed at a cost of Rs 44 crore under Power Grid Corporation of India’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The President’s visit underscores the state government’s focus on healthcare development and traditional medicine education in Uttar Pradesh.
