Adani Airports To Invest Rs 20,000 Crore In Airport Cities Across India

Adani Airports on Thursday announced an ambitious plan to develop integrated airport cities across its network in five states, with a first-phase investment exceeding Rs 20,000 crore.

The project will utilise a land bank of more than 655 acres spread across eight airports.

Nearly 440 acres are located in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, highlighting the strategic importance of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Adani Airport City Limited (AACL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), will spearhead the initiative.

The company plans to develop around 22 million square feet of infrastructure across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.

The developments will integrate hospitality, retail, entertainment, convention and commercial facilities within connected and walkable urban districts.

The model aims to create destinations where airports serve as engines of economic activity rather than mere transport hubs.

Jeet Adani, Director of AAHL, said leading airport districts worldwide have evolved into centres of commerce, tourism and urban expansion. He further noted that India’s growing aviation market offers opportunities to generate value beyond aviation through investment, employment and enhanced passenger experiences.

Nearly 70 per cent of the planned investment will focus on Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

The company identified the region as India’s foremost commercial, financial and aviation gateway.

The proposed districts will connect hotels, offices, retail outlets, restaurants, entertainment venues and convention centres with the airport, Metro and city transport networks.

The concept draws inspiration from globally recognised airport districts. These include Singapore Changi Airport, Dubai International Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Incheon International Airport.

AAHL has also signed hotel management agreements with IHG Hotels & Resorts for five luxury and premium hotels. The portfolio includes the debut of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand in India.

The company is also engaging with leading domestic and international partners across hospitality, food and beverage, retail and entertainment sectors.
